Sector status
Metals & materials
Iron, steel, and aluminum share a customer base, not a timeline. Treat these as two separate planning horizons.
What's confirmed
Close to a year apart
Iron and steel: an ESPR Delegated Act is expected Q4 2026, the nearest-term date in this group. Aluminum: expected Q3 to Q4 2027, roughly a year behind. Both are confirmed priority sectors, only the timing differs.
Timeline
What this means
Closer than it might feel, for one of the two
If iron or steel is your primary material, a Q4 2026 act means formalization could land within months, well before most manufacturers have data collection and product-marking infrastructure in place. Aluminum has more runway, but the underlying build is the same either way.
Why WaveOn
Your data often has to feed someone else's passport
Materials manufacturers often sell into other manufacturers' finished products, so your DPP data may need to reach another business, not just a consumer. That's a data infrastructure problem we already solve.
