Sector status
Textiles
One of six confirmed ESPR priority sectors. Not imminent, but confirmed enough to plan around.
Confirmed, Q3–Q4 2027What's confirmed
A Delegated Act is coming, the details aren't final
An ESPR Delegated Act for textiles is expected Q3 to Q4 2027. That places it behind batteries in urgency, but ahead of categories with no scheduled act at all.
Timeline
What this means
Start with the data carrier, not the final rule text
The requirement will likely track other ESPR sectors: product-level data on composition and durability, a data carrier on the item, and Registry registration. Deciding where the data carrier goes and who holds the data behind it doesn't depend on the final regulatory text.
Why WaveOn
Build it for engagement now, not compliance later
A textile product with an NFC chip already has somewhere useful to point a customer today: care instructions, sourcing story, repair guidance. That's the same connection point DPP will eventually require.
